June 2016
48 Stunden Neukölln Berlin arts festival

Barbara Hashimoto, USA - participates with a new installation to the Festival with the theme "SATT" (Full)

Proposal: SATT (FULL)
The theme of SATT (in English, Full) relates directly to Hashimotos most recent engagements over the past 9 years with environmental art projects that address beyond "full". For her installation for 48 Studen Neukolln 2016 she proposes to present work further addressing these concerns with the excesses of consumerism and the waste of natural resources. Hashimoto would like to build upon her experiences presenting previous installations in Los Angeles, Chicago, and Paris, in which she teamed with local environmental activists to realize the scope of the project and to engage a broad audience. The foundation of the work for 48 Studen Neukolln 2016 will begin in her studio in Chicago over the winter and spring of 2016, continue while an artist-in-residence at Gallery Uno, Berlin in early June, and be fully realized at the festival site. Frequently Hashimoto incorporates a performative aspect to her installation work, which, if appropriate to the situation at 48 Studen Neukolln 2016 she would propose.
